Stevens Creek County Park

Stevens Creek County Park in Cupertino, California has a vast number of hiking trails. It is also has biking and equestrian use. Fishing/non-power boating can be done at the reservoir. Picnicking is popular there and there is also an archery course. We went in spring (18 Mar 2001) to see lots of wildflowers, there are also a great variety of birds to see. Here’s a taste of what we saw.

I got this for Christmas from my son and now can’t wait until spring to get here so I can put it to good use. I’ll have to pay more attention to the leaves and how they are arranged on the plant so I can make better identifications. I’d been using the Seek app on my phone but it isn’t entirely accurate, but certainly a good starting place. I like the step by step method of identification but would love some more color pictures. I may have to supplement this with another. If anyone has any favorite wildflower id books, let me know in the comments!
