At 10,882 acres, it the largest of the Santa Clara County regional parks. It sits in the foothills of Mt Hamilton and has 51 miles of trails with plenty wildlife and birds to be seen. Check out it’s website for more details. Here’s a sampling of some of what we’ve seen, many lifers for me here!

I got this for Christmas from my son and now can’t wait until spring to get here so I can put it to good use. I’ll have to pay more attention to the leaves and how they are arranged on the plant so I can make better identifications. I’d been using the Seek app on my phone but it isn’t entirely accurate, but certainly a good starting place. I like the step by step method of identification but would love some more color pictures. I may have to supplement this with another. If anyone has any favorite wildflower id books, let me know in the comments!
