Apple Crisp

An old recipe that I got from my mother. I modified it by doubling the topping 🙂

Equipment

  • 1 baking dish 8-9 inch

Ingredients
  

  • 4 Granny Smith Apples peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice

For topping

  • â…” cup Flour
  • 2 cups Old Fashioned Oats
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar packed
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • â…” cup butter melted

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Place sliced apples in shallow baking dish greased with about ½ tsp butter.
  • Combine dry ingredients for topping in medium bowl. Mix well then add melted butter stir until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle crumb mixture on top of apples.
  • Bake for 30 min until the apples are tender.

Notes

I usually use salted butter, if not add an extra 1/2 tsp of salt to the topping.  I don’t usually measure the lemon juice but just squirt some on top of the apples.  For a baking dish I use my large 2.5 L corningware baking dish, perfect size.
